The Philomath City Council will take up final votes on the city’s new police services fee and a three-year labor contract with the police officers’ union when it meets Monday night.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Philomath City Hall, with a livestream available on the city’s YouTube channel.
Ordinance 895, which establishes the police services fee, is up for second reading and could receive final passage. The ordinance creates a monthly surcharge on developed residential, commercial and industrial properties within city limits, billed alongside water and sewer charges. It includes a means-based reduction of 50% for very-low-income single-family households, based on federal income thresholds for Benton County. The ordinance carries an emergency clause, meaning it would take effect immediately upon passage.
Paired with the ordinance is Resolution 26-23, which would formally set the fee at $5 per developed residential unit and per developed commercial or industrial site.
Council members will also vote on Resolution 26-24, ratifying a successor collective bargaining agreement between the city and the Philomath Police Personnel Association covering July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.
Other items on the agenda include a National Farmers Market Week proclamation, council liaison reports and the monthly financial report covering March through May.
Public comments are limited to three minutes and written comments can be submitted to City Hall by noon the day of the meeting.
