The Philomath City Council and Philomath Planning Commission are planning to meet at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall to discuss the next steps in the implementation of Comprehensive Plan updates.

Last year, reports were completed in the areas of downtown planning, housing needs analysis, economic opportunities analysis and revitalization planning to generate policies approved by the Planning Commission and City Council. The next step involves reviewing development code and the zoning map and amending them to reflect the new policies.

A purpose of the Jan. 23 meeting will be to determine a workable schedule going forward to complete the work.

Following the joint meeting, the City Council will meet in executive session as allowed under state statute to consult with counsel concerning litigation matters and to discuss real property transactions. Executive sessions are closed to the public and no votes can occur. Following the closed meeting, councilors will reconvene in open session and it could be possible for them to take a vote on a related matter at that time.

For those not attending in person at City Hall, the joint meeting and open session portion of the City Council meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
