An unforgiving morning schedule prevented me from enjoying a cool moment Wednesday out at Blodgett Elementary School but I wanted to bring attention to something the teachers came up with to entertain students.
In a surprise performance, teachers put on some Christmas music and started dancing. The group included Diane Priewe, Elaine Hall, Kierstin Rowley and Diane Crocker and they entertained the youngsters by dancing to Mariah Carey’s rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
Afterward, the kids joined in for the “Kids Bop Shuffle” — a kid-friendly version of “Cupid Shuffle.”
Blodgett Elementary has an enrollment of 22 students, according to the latest enrollment figures reported by the Philomath School District. It serves students in kindergarten through the fourth grade. I’d venture to say that the small school is a special place for those teaching and learning in that intimate setting.
