Local residents who receive a jury summons may notice a new notification format beginning March 18, Benton County Circuit Court announced through a news release.
Chris Westfall, trial court administrator, said the court will send prospective jurors postcards with instructions for accessing online information along with other resources to ease the process of responding.
“The new approach provides more flexibility to update information online, gives potential jurors more options for contact, and saves on printing and postage,” Westfall said. “The Juror eResponse portal is part of the Oregon Judicial Department’s efforts to use technology to improve and expand court communication, accessibility and engagement in innovative ways.”
The online portal, Juror eResponse, allows prospective jurors to complete forms, opt-in for text or email notifications and reporting instructions, obtain an attendance slip for their service and request deferral or excusals, Westfall said. For those without internet access, a questionnaire can be completed for when they report to the courthouse.
