Philomath High senior Adele Beckstead reached the 4A/3A/2A/1A semifinals Friday at the girls tennis state championships at the Oregon State University Tennis Complex.

Beckstead opened the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Baker sophomore Elizabeth Timm. In the quarterfinals, Beckstead upset fourth-seeded Sami Ramos, a Crook County senior, with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Beckstead (15-3) will now get a shot at the tournament’s No. 1 seed and defending state champion Raegan Farm, a junior from North Bend, in Saturday morning’s semifinals.

Beckstead has qualified for the state tennis tournament all four years with the Warriors. This is the first time she has advanced as far as the semifinals.

Beckstead will face Marist Catholic sophomore Whitney Hedden or St. Mary’s-Medford sophomore Carys Chamberland in either the championship match or third-place match on Saturday.
