The Benton County Sheriff’s Office will offer a Community Emergency Response Team training course this fall in Corvallis.

The course, which includes 12 hours of online learning followed by 16 hours in-person instruction, will meet Oct. 10 and Oct. 25-27. The training is designed to enhance local emergency preparedness and empower community members with critical skills.

Participants will benefit from the expertise of local professional responders, state-certified trainers and knowledgeable volunteers who are subject matter experts. The training ensures that individuals of all abilities can gain preparedness skills in a safe, positive and inclusive environment, BCSO said.

The course emphasizes hands-on practice, enabling participants to gain practical experience while fostering a collaborative spirit. By joining this program, individuals not only contribute to their own preparedness but also to the overall safety and well-being of their communities.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register early to secure their spot. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. If younger, participants may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

BCSO notes that the 12-hour online training must be completed to attend the classroom training that begins Oct. 10. To register, go online to Benton County Oregon CERT training
