THURSDAY, JUNE 26

• 2:54 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a Toyota RAV that hit a deer on Highway 20 near Woods Creek Road. The driver, a 56-year-old Newport woman, was interviewed later in Philomath and stated that she continued into town after hitting the deer where she called a towing company. Police reported receiving several photos of the damaged vehicle. No injuries were reported.

FRIDAY, JUNE 27

• 2:15 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 34 about 9 miles southwest of Philomath involving a Subaru Crosstrek that had gone off the road and down a ravine. After self-extrication assistance from Philomath Fire and Rescue, the driver was transported via Corvallis Fire ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. The driver reported that the vehicle’s brakes had failed and the car went off the road.

SUNDAY, JULY 6

• 9 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near Blodgett involving a Ford Explorer that hit a deer. The driver, a 72-year-old Albany woman and a passenger, a 51-year-old Albany woman, were picked up by family members. The Explorer was towed from the scene.

• 10:18 a.m. — BCSO responded to Bellfountain Road near milepost 2 for a report of a sighting of a stolen vehicle. A report on the case showed that the Toyota Tundra had been stolen July 3 from its owner, a 46-year-old Philomath man, at an address on Fern Road. The deputy searched the area and found the pickup unoccupied near water treatment ponds. The Tundra was later returned to its owner undamaged.

MONDAY, JULY 7

• 10:02 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on the east side of Fern Road near Powderhouse Road south of Philomath involving a Chevrolet C25 that had gone into a ditch. The deputy determined that the driver, a 59-year-old Philomath man, was impaired and he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (blood alcohol content of .21). The vehicle was towed.

TUESDAY, JULY 8

• Time NA — A deputy was dispatched to the Ward Road just north of Maxfield Creek Road in Kings Valley to recover stolen mail — two with addresses in Philomath and two in Newport. The deputy dropped off the mail to the Philomath locations and the Newport mail was turned over to the Corvallis Post Office.
