FRIDAY, AUG. 2
• 6:35 p.m. — BCSO responded to Salmonberry Campground in Alsea Valley for a situation that involved a man who allegedly hit his stepdaughter during an argument. BCSO arrested a 70-year-old Alsea man on misdemeanor charges of harassment with physical contact/simple assault, second-degree disorderly conduct and interfering with making a report.
SUNDAY, AUG. 4
• 6 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 1 mile west of Philomath involving a juvenile driver who reportedly fell asleep and drove off the roadway. No injuries were reported. A mailbox was damaged and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
THURSDAY, AUG. 8
• 10:40 a.m. — BCSO responded to a crash on Highway 20 near Garrett Lane about 3 miles northwest of Philomath that involved a Mazda CX5 driven by a 68-year-old Toledo man that struck a deer. No injuries were reported.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 9
• 8:20 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of mail theft in the Woods Creek Road vicinity. A female resident discovered a pile of mail belonging to her and several neighbors. The mail was returned to the involved individuals and they were advised to contact BCSO if they knew of anything specific that was stolen or if any fraudulent activity appears on bank accounts or with their identities.
TUESDAY, AUG. 13
• 12:41 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of mail theft on Cardwell Hill Drive. The mail was retrieved by an individual for the deputy from a cow pasture.
MONDAY, AUG. 19
• 10:27 a.m. — BCSO arrested a 34-year-old Springfield man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop on Highway 20 about 5 miles west of Blodgett. The driver, who was reported to have been going 79 mph in a 55-mph zone, had a suspended license and did not have an ignition interlock device, a requirement for him in his vehicle. The man was cited in lieu of custody.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 21
• 3:15 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash at Fern Road and Grange Hall Road. No injuries were reported. The driver, a 20-year-old Eugene man in a Toyota Corolla, had failed to stop at a stop sign on Grange Hall Road and crashed. The driver was cited for careless driving.
THURSDAY, AUG. 22
• 11:35 p.m. — BCSO arrested a 27-year-old Albany woman on a warrant for failure to appear in Philomath Municipal Court on a criminal citation. The woman, who was cited and released, was a passenger in a vehicle that had broken down along Highway 20 on the western end of Philomath.
SATURDAY, AUG. 24
• 4:26 p.m. — BCSO received an admission from a male juvenile that he and his friends were involved in a July 15 incident on the peak of Flat Mountain, land owned by Starker Forests, that involved evidence of trespassing, offensive littering and criminal mischief. The juvenile agreed to return to the area with the other individuals in the group to clean up all trash from the site in exchange for no criminal charges.
