WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 16
• 6:42 a.m. — BCSO responded to a two-vehicle crash with no injuries on Kings Valley Highway near Highway 20. According to an incident report, a 38-year-old Monmouth woman’s vehicle was rear-ended while both vehicles were southbound approaching the Highway 20 intersection. Dash camera footage showed the woman came to a sudden stop about 150 feet before the intersection. The other driver said he was following “a little too close” but said the woman brake-checked him. The deputy photographed the scene, assisted with an information exchange and directed both drivers to complete DMV crash reports.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 17
• 12:46 a.m. — BCSO stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 20 about 2 miles west of Wren. The driver, a 49-year-old Toledo woman, showed signs of impairment and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. A search found prescription medications, paraphernalia and possible illicit drugs in the vehicle. The woman registered 0% blood-alcohol content on a breath test and provided a urine sample. She was lodged at the Benton County Jail and the vehicle was towed.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 19
• 8:21 a.m. — BCSO checked on a suspicious vehicle reportedly parked for about 24 hours at a Starker Forests gate along Woods Creek Road. The unoccupied SUV had a bedroll in the back and a valid Starker hunting permit on the dash.
• 11:52 a.m. — Deputy responded to a crash with no injuries in a driveway on Lilly Hill Road in Blodgett. A 57-year-old Philomath woman was listed in the report.
• 12:24 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance on Harris Road after an excavation company employee spotted an unoccupied inner tube in the Marys River. The deputy determined it had likely been left in the river or floated downstream. No unoccupied vehicles or missing people were found in the area.
