THURSDAY, JULY 2

• 10 a.m. — BCSO arrested Osmar Perez Sanchez, 26, of Philomath on a felony charge of third-degree assault and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (blood alcohol content .20 or above), reckless driving, reckless endangering and second-degree criminal mischief following a two-vehicle injury crash on West Hills Road near Memory Lane just outside Philomath. Deputies said Perez Sanchez crossed the center line while intoxicated and struck an oncoming vehicle. The other driver was transported to the hospital. Perez Sanchez was cited and released at Benton County Jail.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

• 12:10 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on Peterson Road near Airport Avenue in which a driver’s tie rod broke, causing the vehicle to go into a ditch. The driver was uninjured and arranged for his own tow.

• BCSO took a report of vandalism (time not reported) to a Takeuchi TB 260 excavator parked on Starker Forests property off Old Peak Road. According to the incident report, the ignition was damaged so severely the machine could not be started.

THURSDAY, JULY 23

• 11:40 p.m. — BCSO cited a 41-year-old Toledo man on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving while suspended and failure to signal a lane change following a traffic stop on Highway 20 near Summit Highway in Blodgett. Deputies reported that the man was in possession of 5.5 grams of methamphetamine.

FRIDAY, JULY 24

• 10:29 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near Blodgett in which a driver struck an elk. The elk was dispatched at the scene and the vehicle was towed.
