SATURDAY, OCT. 12
• 5:46 p.m. — BCSO reported that a 1993 Ford Ranger that had crashed into a ditch was discovered at the intersection of Highway 34 and Marys Peak Road. Nobody was at the scene and the truck was towed.
THURSDAY, OCT. 17
• 6 p.m. — BCSO responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash on Fern Road near milepost 2. The investigation indicated that a 38-year-old Newport man drove his 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse off the east shoulder of the road. The driver was reportedly not injured and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
• 7 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of an apparent motor vehicle crash on Marys Peak Road. An investigation determined that a 29-year-old Albany man had died by suicide with a gunshot wound.
FRIDAY, OCT. 18
• 6:57 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Kings Valley Road just south of Hoskins Road. The investigation indicated that a 24-year-old Sutherlin man was driving north on the highway in a 2006 Pontiac Montana when he struck an elk. The vehicle was totaled and the driver sustained a minor wrist injury.
SATURDAY, OCT. 19
• 11:42 a.m. — BCSO responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 3 miles west of Blodgett. The investigation indicated that an 80-year-old Vancouver, Washington, woman was driving west on the highway in a 2011 Nissan Rogue and after missing a turn, quickly slowed down, activated a left turn signal and began pulling over onto the right shoulder. The driver of a vehicle immediately behind the Rogue also slowed down and began pulling onto the right shoulder. A third vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Corvallis man, continued straight and passed the trailing vehicle but then crashed into the Rogue, which made a left turn in front of him. The Rogue spun approximately 180 degrees and came to rest in the westbound lane of travel. The Corvallis man’s vehicle continued west and entered the south ditch and struck a power pole. A report on the crash indicated that there were injuries but did not indicate to whom or the severity.
