The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the 30th annual Shop with a Cop this holiday season, the law enforcement agency announced.
Through collaborative efforts with local agencies, including Benton County Sheriff’s Office Parole and Probation and the Child Welfare offices of the Department of Human Services, a select group of elementary-aged children have been selected to participate.
Last year, law enforcement took between 55 and 60 Benton County kids shopping.
Each participant will receive a gift card, allowing them the freedom to choose their own presents while on a shopping spree with public safety personnel from BCSO, Philomath Police Department, Oregon State University Public Safety and Corvallis Police Department.
Shop with a Cop relies entirely on donations from law enforcement personnel and community members. Financial support is accepted year-round and BCSO welcomes any contribution. Tax-deductible donations can be made via cash or check payable to “The Sheriff’s Foundation,” with “Shop with a Cop” noted in the memo. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at BCSO, 180 NW Fifth St., Corvallis, OR 97330.
