Dry and warm weather conditions and concerns over the potential for wildfires prompted Benton County fire officials to announce a ban on backyard burning and open burning beginning Tuesday.
No debris burning, including piles and in barrels, is prohibited with the ban covering all fire districts in the county. Officials anticipate burn season reopening Oct. 1 depending on fire conditions at that time, Philomath Fire & Rescue reported.
Recreational fires are still allowed. Contact Philomath Fire & Rescue (541-360-0030) for information.
