Marys River Grange No. 685’s annual fundraiser in the form of a rummage sale and other activities will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The event is known as Amazing Grange Day and it will be staged at Marys River Grange Hall in Philomath.
Sonny Hays-Eberts, Marys River Grange president, said this will be the fourth Amazing Grange Day — the event’s first year was 2018 but was not held in 2020 because of the pandemic. Money raised through the six-hour event helps support a local grange project.
“This began to support our roof project and is our fundraising project that benefits our hall,” Hays-Eberts said. “This year, we have a foundation issue and the one estimate we have so far is for $33,000, so that is the project this will support.”
As Hays-Eberts indicated, the grange does plan to look into additional estimates and will also research grant opportunities for the foundation project.
In 2019, Amazing Grange Day funds went toward the cost associated with replacing a 60-year-old furnace. Last year’s event proceeds went to a need for bathroom and junior hall renovations.
Amazing Grange Day will feature a rummage sale with items donated by members and other friends of the organization and a pie auction. Sunbow Produce, a longtime organic farm operation, and Mud Oven Pizza, will also both be on site.
The organization’s historic building is located at 24707 Grange Hall Road.
