As this school year begins to come to a close, Alsea School District is continuing a period of positive transition.

In July, the district will welcome incoming Superintendent Krista Nieraeth along with three new board members (according to unofficial election results) — Russ Ceperich, Jamie Olsen and Soren Rounds.

When the students head home for the summer on June 16, the Alsea bond project can move into full swing. The hope is that in fall 2023, career technical education (CTE) classes, including forestry, wood and metal shop, agricultural sciences and art, can begin in the new vocational building. Ongoing bond project work during the 2023-24 school year will include a new HVAC system and cafeteria/kitchen.

In addition to the new math curriculum purchased this year, the district is in process of acquiring a new comprehensive K-12 English and language arts curriculum. These positive changes are building toward a great start to the 2023-24 school year on August 28.
