To accommodate the emerging career and technical education program in the Alsea School District, Soderstrom Architects of Portland, construction managers Integrity Management Solutions of Alsea, and Alsea School staff will engage this summer in a series of collaborative design meetings for a new vocational building on the Alsea School campus.

Alsea School staff have requested a flexible, hands-on learning space that can meet changing needs of the CTE program over time. Current designs include spaces for a computer lab/classroom, digital fabrication, wood and metal shops, welding, forestry, agricultural sciences and pottery. Dependent on potential Perkins Grant funding, future plans include a log yard with a portable sawmill.

This fall, ZCS Services will prepare an application for state seismic grant funding to help mitigate the cost of the new building. Commencement of the project is expected in spring of 2024.
