A 56-year-old Dallas man was killed Thursday in an accident on a dairy farm south of Corvallis, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported.

BCSO deputies and the Corvallis Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m. and found David Breyman III unconscious with no pulse. Deputies and citizens at the scene attempted lifesaving efforts but were unsuccessful, BCSO said.

According to BCSO, Breyman had driven a truck carrying 27 tons of cornmeal feed to the dairy farm and was alone and in the process of unloading it by using the trailer’s unloading mechanism. The feed appears to have forced a gate to swing open and pinned him up against a wall of the barn.

A farm worker was nearby and heard Breyman yell, BCSO said. The worker called for help and shut off the trailer to stop it from piling up more feed.

Corvallis Fire Department personnel assisted with freeing Breyman by removing part of the wall. They also attempted lifesaving measures without success.

Breyman was working for a trucking and feed company based out of Polk County.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family, Sheriff Jef Van Arsdall said in a news release. “Your dedication to put food on our tables does not go unnoticed and we’re terribly sorry for your loss.”
