The Philomath City Council plans to meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at City Hall with an agenda that includes next steps to take related to psilocybin services.

The question on the table is whether to ban psilocybin service centers and manufacturing facilities in Philomath or to establish an ordinance that places specific restrictions on the location (for example, within 2,000 feet of a school or child-care center). One possibility would be an outright ban via ordinance and then putting it before voters on the general election ballot in November 2026.

Also on the agenda, the council will review the recruitment procedure for hiring a city recorder to succeed Ruth Post, who will retire this year after 25 years with the city. The council will also review the 2023-24 fiscal year financial audit.

The meeting can be viewed live on the city’s YouTube channel. Preceding the meeting, councilors will meet for a work session to go through the state’s mandatory reporter training.
