• 7:28 a.m. — Firefighters provided public assistance in the 3200 block of West Hills Road.

SATURDAY, JAN. 20

• 4:13 p.m. — Firefighters provided public assistance in the 500 block of Starlight Way.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to a call at 2:36 a.m. (North Ninth Street).

SUNDAY, JAN. 21

• 7:22 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at Chapel Drive and South 19th Street. No fire was discovered. According to the public information officer, the glow from greenhouse lights combined with misty or foggy weather conditions can create the illusion of flames coming out of the structure.

MONDAY, JAN. 22

• 10:39 a.m. — Firefighters provided public assistance in the 32000 block of Powder House Road.

TUESDAY, JAN. 23

• 5:10 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a residence along Highway 34, Alsea. The call was canceled en route.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 24

THURSDAY, JAN. 25

• 10:04 a.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a smoke detector sounding in an unoccupied apartment in the 3000 block of Main Street. Smoke was found at floor level with the source being an oven set to self-clean. Firefighters used a fan to ventilate the apartment. (See related item in column).
