FRIDAY, OCT. 13

• 12:22 p.m. — Police took a report of fraud in the 100 block of North 14th Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

• 2:52 p.m. — Police took a report of theft in the 200 block of South 23rd Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a person screaming for help at 1:43 a.m. (North Eighth Street), animal complaint at 1:30 p.m. (Houser Lane), domestic disturbance at 2:52 p.m. (Applegate Street), noise disturbance (South 16th Street) and foot patrol at 10 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

SATURDAY, OCT. 14

• 11:29 a.m. — Police responded to a hit-and-run at South 24th Street and Applegate Street involving a parked vehicle that had been hit by another vehicle. Police located the driver that left the scene, issued a citation for the hit-and-run and assisted with the exchange of information.

Other calls: Police responses included a truck inspection at 3:21 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a parking complaint at 3:59 p.m. (Mount Union Avenue). PPD reported 39 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, OCT. 15

• 1:45 p.m. — Police assisted at the scene of an injured minor who fell approximately 10 feet from a bank onto a pile of sticks on South 11th Street. The minor was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center via ambulance.

• 7:38 p.m. — Police responded to a situation involving warrant service on Applegate Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

• 9:01 p.m. — Police responded to a situation involving warrant service on Applegate Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included person assist at 8:55 a.m. (Applegate Street), noise disturbance at 3:42 p.m. (North 11th Street) and a report of a possible DUII at 5:07 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Corvallis Police Department on a call at 12:09 a.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis), the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 4:52 p.m. (Highway 20, Blodgett) and BCSO on a call at 10:14 p.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported seven traffic stops.

MONDAY, OCT. 16

• 12:04 p.m. — Police responded to a crash in the 1000 block of Applegate Street. No injuries were reported.

• 7:56 p.m. — Police responded to a driving under the influence of intoxicants situation at Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest 71st Street, Corvallis. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a private property tow at 2:02 a.m. (College Street), non-911 issue at 6:58 a.m. (College Street), lost property at 10:19 a.m. (Applegate Street) and non-911 issue at 12:11 p.m. In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 6:32 p.m. (Main Street) and 8:12 p.m. (Houser Lane). PPD reported no traffic stops.

TUESDAY, OCT. 17

• 6:42 a.m. — Police responded to a report of prowler in the 1100 block of Applegate Street.

• 12:38 p.m. — Police issued a city ordinance violation to a homeowner in the 200 block of North 16th Street to clean up their yard.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 8:07 a.m. (North Ninth Street and Main Street), welfare check at 10:35 a.m. (North Ninth Street and Marilyn Drive), and a found dog at 9:09 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 18

• 7:57 a.m. — Police responded to a crash in the 2200 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.

• 11:17 a.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 2800 block of Newton Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a person assist at 8:19 a.m. (South 19th Street), found dog at 2:28 p.m. (North 14th Street), dog in a hot vehicle at 6:40 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and noise disturbance at 7:28 p.m. (South 16th Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

THURSDAY, OCT. 19

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included foot patrol at 12:48 a.m. (Main Street), welfare check at 9:41 a.m. (Newton Street), noise disturbance at 6:44 p.m. (North 14th Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 8:37 p.m. (North 19th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SUNDAY, OCT. 8

• 5:10 p.m. — Police arrested a 58-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended following a traffic stop at North 14th Street and Main Street.

TUESDAY, OCT. 10

• 6:25 p.m. — Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 5400 block of Plymouth Drive near Philomath involving a Honda Pilot driven by a 30-year-old Corvallis man that crashed into a ditch and was blocking traffic. The driver stated that he had taken a corner too fast, lost control, overcorrected and slid into the ditch. The vehicle was towed.

FRIDAY, OCT. 13

• 12:09 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a dog at large in the Marilyn Drive vicinity. The dog was caught and transported to Heartland Humane Society in Corvallis for its owner to pick up.

SATURDAY, OCT. 14

• 11:18 a.m. — Deputies took a report from a 19-year-old Corvallis man that the vehicle he was driving was stolen from Marys Peak Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. The vehicle is a blue 2006 Volvo V50 wagon. BCSO reported no suspects.

• 10:59 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 34-year-old Albany woman on a misdemeanor charge of failure to register as a sex offender during a traffic stop on Highway 20 near Blodgett. The woman was issued a criminal citation in lieu of custody.

SUNDAY, OCT. 15

• 4:41 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 42-year-old Newport woman in Philomath on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangering and reckless driving following an incident that had occurred on Highway 20 near Southwest Moore Drive in Newport. Law enforcement received a report that a black Dodge Ram pickup, later determined to be the vehicle driven by the Newport woman, had been driving recklessly and almost caused a crash.

• 10:12 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 43-year-old Bremerton, Washington, man on a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass in the second degree following an incident at the intersection of Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway. Deputies approached a suspicious Chevrolet Camaro near the intersection and the driver fled on foot. He was located via drone and K9 after he had allegedly trespassed at the Wren Cemetery.

FATAL CRASHES

FRIDAY, OCT. 13

• 8:44 p.m. — Troopers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Interstate 5 about 3 miles north of Keizer that took the life of Arnulfo Acosta Chavez, 52, of Aurora. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Honda CRV driven by a 45-year-old Salem man struck Chavez, who was crossing the interstate on foot. The driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Chavez was declared deceased at the scene. 

MONDAY, OCT. 16

• 10:30 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 about 20 miles east of Troutdale that took the life of Jamal Haji Hassan Kimo, 44, of Keizer. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Toyota Prius driven by Kimo was headed west when the vehicle began to hydroplane on standing water on the roadway. The Toyota struck the northern guardrail and re-entered the westbound lanes of travel into the path of a commercial truck operated by a 63-year-old man from Bangor, Maine. The truck’s driver was not injured. Kimo was declared deceased at the scene.
