The city of Philomath is accepting applications through mid-November for two grant programs that together will distribute an estimated $39,000 to local organizations during the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Complete applications for both the social service agency funding program and the transient lodging tax grant program are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

The social service grants, estimated at $26,000 for the fiscal year, support nonprofit and governmental organizations that provide essential services to Philomath residents. The city’s funding priorities include support for underserved populations, homelessness and housing insecurity, mental health and wellness.

The money comes from the city’s share of state revenue sharing funds with up to 35% of those dollars eligible for allocation to qualifying projects each year.

To qualify, an organization must hold federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or be a governmental or quasi-governmental agency. Funded projects or services must benefit Philomath community members during the period for which the money is requested.

The second program, funded through the city’s transient lodging tax, provides about $13,000 for organizations that promote tourism or support tourism-related facilities within city limits. Unlike the social service grants, the lodging tax program is open to businesses and service organizations as well as nonprofits, provided their projects align with tourism goals outlined in the city’s strategic plan. Individuals are not eligible.

Applications and complete eligibility details for both programs are posted in the Bids & RFPs section of the city’s website. The city has also published a list of frequently asked questions about the programs.

Questions can be directed to Finance Director Mike Murzynsky.
