In an Oregon West Conference volleyball matchup Tuesday night in Philomath High’s gym, visiting Taft survived an early challenge from the host Warriors before posting a 27-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-11 victory.

“We played a tough Taft team with scrappy defense and some great offensive plays,” PHS coach Whitney Thomas said.

Warriors senior Nora Stanley had a team-high 15 kills in the four-set match. Senior teammate Marri Best finished with 10 kills. Junior Addison Rice and senior Cheyenne Adams had 10 and nine assists, respectively.

“Marri stepped up tonight and played well on both offense and defense,” Thomas said.

Philomath (2-9 overall, 0-2 Oregon West) now turns its attention to Cascade for a 6 p.m. Thursday match on the road. Meanwhile, Taft (8-4, 1-1) will go home to face Central, also on Thursday.
