Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, FEB. 6
• 8 a.m. — Police responded to a report from a resident on North 19th Street who had been contacted by unknown individuals demanding money to be paid. The man was advised that it was a scam and to not pay any money and to block the number.
• 1:54 p.m. — Police were dispatched to Reservoir Park for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers determined that a suicide had taken place.
• 6:15 p.m. — Police responded to a Philomath restaurant’s concern that a patron had driven to the establishment while intoxicated. While police did not establish probable cause for driving under the influence of intoxicants, the individual was trespassed from the business, instructed not to drive and asked to not return.
• 7:12 p.m. — Police arrested a 43-year-old Corvallis man in the 1700 block of Main Street on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. The man was cited and released.
Other calls: Police responses included an allegation of the filing of a false report at 8:37 a.m. (South 10th Street), welfare check at 1:38 p.m. (Marlon Place) and an allegation of a violation of an order at 4:07 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 12:01 p.m. (Main Street and South 26th Street) and 12:34 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.
SATURDAY, FEB. 7
• 3:33 p.m. — Police responded to a report involving a cashier at a local business believing that a woman in the checkout line was making a distress signal with her hands. The call was for information only with a time delay regarding the incident.
• 6:40 p.m. — Police took a report from the 1900 block of Lowther Place of shots heard in the vicinity. Law-enforcement firearms training was occurring at a location nearby.
Other calls: PPD reported four traffic stops.
SUNDAY, FEB. 8
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 5:17 p.m. (Newton Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 3:56 p.m. (Willowbrook Court) and 10:57 p.m. (Southwest Wake Robin Avenue, Corvallis). PPD reported six traffic stops.
MONDAY, FEB. 9
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a juvenile complaint at 6:40 a.m. (Newton Street), parking complaint at 3:55 p.m. (Pioneer Street and Tasman Place) and a juvenile complaint at 5:45 p.m. (Newton Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 6:29 p.m. (Marlon Place). PPD reported no traffic stops.
TUESDAY, FEB. 10
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of a disabled vehicle at 4:42 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 11
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included an allegation of bicycle theft at 3:15 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and citizen assistance at 5:59 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:17 p.m. (South 24th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.
THURSDAY, FEB. 12
• 2:02 a.m. — Police cited a man and woman in the 6500 block of Southwest Reservoir Avenue in Corvallis for minors in possession of alcohol through Benton County Circuit Court.
