Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, OCT. 31
• 1:17 a.m. — Philomath Police arrested a 61-year-old Philomath man on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs) during a traffic stop in the 5500 block of Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis. Later during the same morning at his residence in the 1200 block of Pioneer Street, he was arrested and jailed on charges of contempt of court.
• 11:40 a.m. — Police responded to a report from an individual who alleged that someone had stolen the tags off his vehicle. An investigation determined that the vehicle’s tags had expired in May and were not renewed. Police believe the man had overlooked renewing his tags and was advised to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• 6:40 p.m. — Police responded to a report from a Philomath woman in the 200 block of South 16th Street that a purse had been stolen from her vehicle with the loss estimated at $550. The woman later found her items.
Other calls: Police responses included event detail at 2:51 p.m. (Main Street), civil issue involving custody agreement at 5:29 p.m. (Applegate Street), dog complaint at 6:31 p.m. (Newton Street) and a dog at large at 8:18 p.m. (North Seventh Street and Main Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.
SATURDAY, NOV. 1
• 8:08 a.m. — Police arrested a 20-year-old Philomath man in the 400 block of South Ninth Street on a warrant out of Linn County. The man was cited and released.
• 8:08 a.m. — Police reported that a wallet had been found and was logged into evidence for safekeeping.
• 12:26 p.m. — Police arrested a 20-year-old Scappoose man in the 5400 block of Southwest Reservoir Avenue, Corvallis, on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
• 4:44 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a crash at Main Street and South 24th Street involving two vehicles that collided while merging. No injuries were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a mental health issue at 10:23 a.m., dog at large at 10:08 p.m. (Main Street) and a loud party complaint at 10:55 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:14 a.m. (Bellfountain Road). PPD reported 15 traffic stops.
SUNDAY, NOV. 2
• 2:42 a.m. — Police arrested a 31-year-old Corvallis man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .15 through .19) following a collision with a road sign and a planter at South 15th Street and Applegate Street.
• 11:10 a.m. — Police arrested a 35-year-old Philomath man on a warrant out of Lebanon Municipal Court for failure to appear on a criminal citation.
• 12:56 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run at South 15th Street and Applegate Street involving a damaged sign with parts of a broken headlight found. The report was related to a DUII arrest that occurred in the early morning hours.
• 1:45 p.m. — Police arrested a 42-year-old Ablany man in the 500 block of Landmark Drive on a warrant out of Lebanon Municipal Court.
Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 4:36 a.m. (Main Street), medical call at 9:48 a.m. (College Street and North 14th Street) and a welfare check at 1:58 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 7:44 p.m. (Evergreen Road). PPD reported nine traffic stops.
MONDAY, NOV. 3
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included an open line on a 911 call at 7:05 a.m. (Main Street), dog as public nuisance at 10:15 a.m. (North 12th Street), dog complaint at 11:40 a.m. (Main Street) and dogs at large at 4:38 p.m. (North 12th Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.
TUESDAY, NOV. 4
• 10:17 a.m. — Police responded to a report of identity theft in the 300 block of South 31st Street involving an unauthorized credit card account opened using a woman’s social security number.
• 8:08 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle that struck mailboxes and left the area.
Other calls: Police responses included a disabled vehicle at 10:28 a.m. (North 19th Street and Main Street), contractor who found a firearm at 12:08 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and citizen contact at 10:43 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 5
• 9:23 a.m. — Police responded to a city ordinance violation in the 700 block of Main Street involving various appliances and other scattered items in a yard.
• 9:38 a.m. — Police responded to a trespassing situation involving a man who was sleeping in the doorway of a business in the 1700 block of Main Street. When contacted, the man left the property.
• 9:43 a.m. — Police responded to a citizen who was cleaning a property and found a firearm and parts in poor condition. The items were lodged into evidence for safekeeping.
• 12:34 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a prowler in the 300 block of North 12th Street involving a man who was seen crawling over the caller’s fence. Police were unable to find the man on the property or in the area.
• 4:20 p.m. — Police arrested a 52-year-old Alsea woman on a warrant out of Philomath Municipal Court.
• 4:36 p.m. — Police conducted a death investigation in the 400 block of North 12th Street.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of found property at 8:31 a.m. (South 11th Street), found property at 9:28 a.m. (North Eighth Street), welfare check at 12:46 p.m. (Marlon Street), youth issue at 3:46 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 6:19 p.m. (McCall Way). PPD reported four traffic stops.
THURSDAY, NOV. 6
• 2:13 p.m. — Police responded to the 700 block of Main Street for a report of dog theft. The caller was advised that it was a civil issue.
Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 8:33 a.m. (North 12th Street), suspicious circumstance at 9:36 a.m. (Philomath Middle School), phone harassment at 9:02 p.m. (College Street) and a bar check at 10:48 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
