The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to launch a guardrail replacement project along Highway 34 in the coming days to upgrade outdated roadside barriers, the agency announced.
The Alsea Highway project covers an area from just outside Waldport (milepost 2.3) to about 4 miles southwest of the intersection with Highway 20 at Philomath.
Construction crews are scheduled to begin work in early June with operations planned for 9 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays. Motorists can expect single lane and shoulder closures with flaggers directing traffic as needed through the construction zone.
ODOT indicated that there will be no full road closures. Drivers should anticipate construction noise and potential delays during active work periods.
The project carries a price tag of $4.7 million.
Motorists are encouraged to check TripCheck.com for the most current traffic information and road conditions before traveling Highway 34 during the construction period.
