Philomath High girls basketball standout Reagan Heiken is receiving plenty of postseason recognition this week. Not only was she included on two separate all-state first teams, the Warriors sophomore was named SBLive Oregon’s Class 4A Player of the Year.

Heiken, a 5-foot-10 post who can work inside and outside, bring the ball up the court, crash the boards and come up with game-changing steals, was named to the first team by both SBLive Oregon and the Oregon Basketball Coaches Association.

Heiken helped the Warriors to a 23-6 season and state runner-up finish at the 4A tournament. She averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to go along with 53 assists, 69 steals and 10 blocked shots. She was a unanimous choice for the all-tournament team in Forest Grove.

The SBLlive Oregon staff compiles its all-state team based on a vote of the state’s coaches and jointly publishes the list with The Oregonian/OregonLive. Joining Heiken on the first team were Stayton senior Kenzi Hollenbeck, Stayton sophomore Kathryn Samek, Cascade junior Rozalynn Schmunk and Henley freshman Makayla Schroeder. Stayton’s Tal Wold was named Coach of the Year.

Philomath senior Anneka Steen was named to the second team. Warriors senior Zoee Howard received honorable mention recognition.

In the OBCA all-state team, which is also chosen by coaches, Stayton’s Hollenbeck was named Player of the Year and her coach, Wold, was Coach of the Year.

Beyond Heiken and Hollenbeck, others on the first team were Schroeder, Samek and Marshfield junior Morgan Ainsworth. Steen made the honorable mention list.

Steen finished the season with averages of 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She also had a team-high 72 assists and finished with 66 steals. Howard averaged 5.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game with 28 assists and 35 steals.
