The Philomath High School girls tennis team went up against a strong Catlin Gabel squad Thursday and lost by an 8-0 count.

The most competitive match occurred at No. 2 doubles where Catlin Gabel’s Lily Wang and Lyla Wohlgemuth went up against Philomath’s Lucy Thomas and Elisabeth Workman. In a battle down to the final point, the Eagles duo was able to pull off the win, 6-4, 1-6, 12-10.

Catlin Gabel swept all of the other matches. Pro set scoring — first to win eight games — was used at No. 4 singles and No. 4 doubles.

Philomath (1-1) will see action next on April 1 at home vs. Dallas.
