Two 4-H groups — Prime Cuts and Young Riders — and Boy Scouts Troop 161 helped clean up Mount Union Cemetery on May 1, the cemetery’s Janet Cornelius reported.

“Their faithful help twice a year is a wonderful contribution to the cemetery and the community,” Cornelius said.

The historic cemetery, located at 2987 Mount Union Avenue, was established in 1861 and will be the site of the upcoming flag-placement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, in recognition of Armed Forces Day and Peace Officers Memorial Day, and also serving as an early Memorial Day event.
