In a primary election that will determine who will take over Xan Augerot’s seat on the Benton County Board of Commissioners, Tuesday night’s unofficial results showed Gabe Shepherd receiving more than 60% of the vote against Liz Irish.

The most recent available results as listed online by the Benton County Records and Elections Department showed Shepherd with 7,010 votes (62.07%) to Irish’s 4,248 votes (37.61%) for Position 2’s Democratic nomination. No Republicans filed for the seat which means the winner out of the Democratic primary will be unopposed in November.

Shepherd, a Corvallis city councilor, appears likely to replace Augerot, who has served on the board since 2016 and chose not to pursue another term.

In other results, Democrat Nancy Wyse and Republican R Keith Lembke were unopposed for Position 3 nominations and will square off in November. Wyse is the incumbent.
