FRIDAY, APRIL 12

• 7:39 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a fight in the area of Highway 20 and Blitz Lane in Blodgett. Upon arrival, both parties had separated and were contacted at their respective residences. A 38-year-old Philomath man and a 44-year-old Blodgett man were issued citations in lieu of custody on charges of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault.

• 8:16 p.m. — Deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash on Main Street in the area of the west end of the couplet. Minor injuries were reported with no medical transportation. All three vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene. See separate story.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 1:08 p.m. (North 12th Street) and 9:08 p.m. (Southwest 53rd Street and Bellfountain Road, Corvallis).

MONDAY, APRIL 15

• 1:56 p.m. — Deputies transported a stray dog from the 1200 block of West Hills Road in Philomath to Heartland Humane Society. The dog was a young, neutered male black lab.

TUESDAY, APRIL 16

• 3:49 a.m. — Deputies arrested a 59-year-old Waldport man on a warrant after he was pulled over for speeding on Highway 20 near Priest Road. The man was cited and released.

FRIDAY, APRIL 19

• 9:51 a.m. — Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 34 and Decker Road. No injuries were reported. According to the investigation, a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 20-year-old Salem woman was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn into a flower stand off the west shoulder of Highway 34. A Toyota Tacoma driven by a 75-year-old Alsea woman, heading east on Highway 34, was attempting to pass just as the 4Runner began to turn. The Tacoma struck the 4Runner on the left front corner causing both vehicles to become disabled, blocking Highway 34. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

FATAL HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a late-model black Toyota Corolla Cross that may have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred earlier this week on Highway 20 near Hyak Park between Albany and Corvallis.

On Wednesday afternoon, a farmer discovered a deceased 29-year-old woman, later identified as Deborah Rosemary Haikkila, of Albany.
