The Philomath High School girls tennis team earned a 6-2 home victory over Junction City on Thursday with the Warriors winning six of eight matches across singles and doubles play.

In singles, senior Lucy King and junior Cecilia Milesi both posted comfortable wins. King defeated senior Grace Painter 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 while Milesi handled senior Danika Giron at No. 3 by the same score of 6-2, 6-2.

Junction City’s Paige Jamison, a senior, edged junior Lucy Thomas 6-4, 7-6 (5), and junior Autumn Deeds defeated junior Isabelle Norman 6-1, 7-6 (5).

Philomath swept all four doubles matches. Senior Lucie Oster and junior Clara Neville rallied from a first-set loss to defeat seniors Gracie Waine and Ivy Salazar 5-7, 6-4, 6-0. Sophomores Bethany Cannon and Bella Nunez took down seniors Josie Osborn and Bella Jones 7-5, 6-3. Seniors Lacey Bacho and Logan Cook handled senior Sienna Springer and junior Hayden Vetkos 6-4, 6-1, and the pairing of senior Maggie King and junior Lizzie Workman closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over sophomores Julia Szalaj and Alexa Castillo Geronimo.

Philomath will travel to face Marist Catholic on Tuesday.
