Junior Lucas Brandt won a pair of individual events to highlight Philomath High School’s performance at the Blanchet Invitational on Saturday at the Kroc Center in Salem.
Brandt captured the 100-yard freestyle in 50.51 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.44 to help the Warrior boys place third with 298 points. Tillamook won the boys competition with 377 points, followed by Taft’s 315.
The Warriors also won two relays, opening the meet with first place in the 200 medley with senior Mason Stevens, Brandt, senior Cameron McLennan and senior Blake Hauck clocking 1:52.33.
Later in the 200 freestyle relay, Hauck, junior Wyatt Coen, McLennan and Brandt posted the winning time of 1:41.62.
Coen earned a victory in the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:12.56.
McLennan added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:00.23) and placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.01). Stevens finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:10.42).
On the girls side, Philomath finished seventh in the team standings with 187 points.
Freshman Adelina Kowalewski posted two top-three finishes. She took second in the 50 freestyle (28.25) and placed third in the 100 backstroke (1:14.25).
The 200 medley relay team of Kowalewski, sophomore Alyssa Weeber, junior Kate Burriel and junior Emma Mecham finished third in 2:18.33.
Philomath’s next competition is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Junction City and Marist Catholic. The team’s seniors will be recognized at the meet.
