Correction, February 18, 2026 9:32 am: A previous version of this story misidentified the correct player as having 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists. It was Reagan Heiken, not Reagan Nuño.

Senior Isabelle Muir hit a big 3-pointer and Philomath High’s defense made a stop on the opponent’s final possession to post a 49-47 double-overtime victory Tuesday at Cascade.

The victory improves the Warriors to 12-9 overall, 4-2 in the Oregon West Conference. Philomath trails league leader Stayton by one game in the loss column and will face the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Friday in a showdown that could decide the regular-season conference champion.

Playing in the home gymnasium, Cascade erupted for 14 points in the second quarter after a sluggish start to take a 20-17 lead over the Warriors at halftime. But Philomath allowed only four field goals in the second half and came up with enough juice on the other end to force overtime.

Muir scored six points in the two overtimes, including the crucial 3-pointer in the second OT. Junior Jordyn Hood also hit a 3 and both junior Reagan Heiken and junior Annaleise Brown contributed points as well in the extra time.

PHS coach Ben Silva said the team played overall great defense in the victory, including exceptional efforts by sophomore Reagan Nuño and Brown. In addition, Heiken was strong on the boards with 12, all but one of those on the defensive end, and had a team-high five steals. Brown finished with 11 rebounds.

Hood finished as the team’s top scorer with 13 points. Muir added 12. Heiken contributed four assists. Philomath hit 40% from the foul line on 25 attempts.

Senior Rozalyn Schmunk had a game-high 25 points for Cascade (11-9, 5-2). Senior Cassidy Crabtree finished with 12. Three of Cascade’s five starters fouled out.

The Warriors will recognize seniors prior to Friday’s game against Stayton.
