The Oregon Employment Related Day Care program, which provides subsidies for child care to low-income families, faces a funding gap as federal support concludes. Thousands of eligible families may not be able to join the subsidy program as the state ends acceptance due to limited funding. Advocacy groups, including Family Forward, and the state governor have called for additional state funding for the program, which saw a 50% increase in recipients between January and August. The state is expected to run out of its remaining child care funding from the American Rescue Plan within a year.
