The Philomath City Council plans to consider its next moves on efforts to build a new skate park at a meeting called for 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 at City Hall.
A feasibility study and conceptual design for a new skate park was recently completed with the city utilizing funds from an Oregon Parks and Recreation Department grant. According to a meeting agenda and packet, the contractor involved with the study estimated the probable cost at $603,479, a figure that would not include things like landscaping or benches.
The city’s Capital Improvement Project Plan shows $300,000 budgeted for construction. Councilors will likely discuss details of the plan, including funding options that could range from grant opportunities to grassroots fundraising.
Also at the meeting, councilors plan to go over a services agreement for the new city attorney, consider Samaritan Award nominations, check in on the 2023-24 Strategic Plan, appoint a councilor to the Scenic Byway Corridor Management Committee and take a vote on an intergovernmental agreement related to the state’s ePermit System and Services.
For those not attending in person at City Hall, the regular meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
