The Philomath Area Chamber of Commerce will highlight exceptional service to the community by recognizing volunteers, organizations and businesses during the annual Samaritan Awards at 6 p.m. Friday at Philomath Scout Lodge.

The public is invited to join the celebration, which is a free event. Coffee and desserts will be served. The doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The chamber is asking that those who attend bring a donation to help support the Philomath School District’s Weekend Food Pack Program. The program helps food-insecure students in a discreet way to ensure they have meals outside of school hours.

To determine recipients of the Samaritan Awards, the chamber solicited nominations from various organizations and entities.

The evening’s recognition includes First Citizen honors along with nonprofit, large business and small business awards. The First Citizen awards are made up of four separate categories based on age — Future First Citizen Awards (ages 18 and under), Junior First Citizen (ages 19-39), First Citizen (ages 40-64) and Senior First Citizen (65 and older).

Volunteers from various organizations and entities are also recognized.

Philomath Scout Lodge is located at 660 Clemens Mill Road.
