The Philomath Community Library will host award-winning children’s performer Red Yarn on Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for a program at Philomath City Hall.

Red Yarn, the stage name of performer Andy Furgeson, combines roots music and puppetry into high-energy, interactive shows designed for family audiences of all ages. With his Texas drawl, road-worn acoustic guitar and suitcase full of handmade animal puppets, Furgeson will lead audiences through an engaging performance that blends folk, rock and roll, country and blues.

The show features traditional and original songs celebrating the multicultural musical heritage of the United States. As Red Yarn performs, he guides audiences through the landscapes of American folklore depicted on beautiful quilted backdrops, introducing various “Critter” puppet friends along the way.

The handmade animal puppets provide comic relief, calm and tender moments, and valuable social-emotional lessons throughout the performance. Audience members can expect plenty of singing, dancing, stomping and clapping during the dynamic show.

The free event is open to everyone. Red Yarn Productions is based in Portland.
