The Philomath Sensational Seniors Society group has been meeting at Maxtivity Arts and Crafts Creative Space on the first Tuesday of each month since December and is on a journey to find connections and make new friends.
What better way to connect and make friends than to craft? Each month, we have a different craft project to work on and the Jan. 6 group began a weaving project. We were all beginners and our lesson, with basic skills and terms, was designed to get us started as an event for the day. We had lots of fun, laughed and learned something new and were able to take our weaving boards home to continue to experiment a bit.
If you would like to be part of our senior craft days, come along and join us at Maxtivity on the first Tuesday of each month. Our next craft day will be Feb. 3 at Maxtivity, 1604 Main St., Philomath (541-714-3443).
Also, a reminder: On the second Tuesday of each month our senior group gets together to discuss topics of interest, play games or just to socialize a bit. Our January meeting was held at the Philomath Community Library conference room from 10-11:30 a.m., where we exchanged puzzles and books, played a game, chatted and enjoyed new friendships over coffee, tea and treats — a thank you to those who brought the delicious sweets.
Our next discussion day will be on Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. The meeting will take place at Philomath City Hall in the council chambers. The meeting’s topic will be crime prevention. (Also, a sincere apology for a previous schedule mixup.)
