The Philomath High School girls basketball team vaulted out to a 20-point lead by halftime and rolled to a 60-38 victory over Eagle Point Friday in the opening round of the Spartan Classic at Corvallis High School.
Senior Shaylee May led a trio of Warriors to hit double figures in scoring with 14 points on five field goals and 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Sophomore Libby Kramer hit three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Junior Reagan Heiken added 10 points.
May was a force on the defensive end as well with 10 rebounds. She also had four offensive boards to finish with 14 in total for the game. Junior Annaleise Brown had eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
Junior Emary Haning led Eagle Point (4-3) with 14 points.
Philomath (3-1) will next face Caldera, a Class 5A school out of Bend. The Wolfpack opened the tournament with a 65-45 victory over Corvallis and will bring a 4-2 record into their game against the Warriors.
