The Philomath High School boys tennis team defeated North Bend and Marshfield on a trip to the coast Friday afternoon.

In a 7-0 victory over North Bend, the Warriors swept the four singles matches and also posted the team’s first doubles win of the season. Singles winners included freshman Cameron Barlow (6-1, 6-1), senior Nate Houck (6-4, 6-2), senior Lane Schell (6-1, 6-1) and freshman Andrew Sims (6-1, 6-2).

The doubles team of freshman Lev Grose and sophomore Samuel Holroyd posted a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Against Marshfield, the Warriors won 4-3 on the strength of four singles victories. Winners included Barlow (6-3, 6-4), Houck (6-1, 6-4), Schell (6-4, 6-1) and Sims (6-2, 6-0).

Philomath will now get a bit of a break before its next competition, scheduled for April 14 at home against Marist Catholic.
