The Philomath High School wrestling teams swept all four matchups at the Cottage Grove Senior Night Duals on Wednesday with the boys defeating both Newport and Cottage Grove while the girls won all six of their individual matches.
The Philomath boys posted wins of 41-22 over Newport and 45-36 over Cottage Grove.
Against the Cubs, the Warriors won three matches on pins and another on a technical fall. Senior Riley Barrett, competing for the first time in three weeks, dominated his opponent at 150 pounds with a 17-1 technical fall in 1:35.
Senior Braydon Williams (132), senior Lake Mulberry (190) and senior Derick Kohn (285) all won on pins. Philomath went 4-3 vs. Newport in head-to-head matchups.
In the dual against Cottage Grove, the Warriors won six of the eight matches that took place. Senior Lukas Hernandez (144), Barrett (150) and senior Porter Compton (157) all posted technical fall victories. Senior Liam Bennett (165), Mulberry (190) and Kohn (215) pinned their opponents.
On the girls side, Philomath won four matches against the host school with pins by junior Alexis Pettit (100) and Rielly Ellingsen (125) and 7-1 decisions by freshman Carsyn Pettit-Juvenal (115) and freshman Makinzey Harrington (130).
The Warriors won both matchups against Newport with pins by Ellingsen (130) and Harrington (135).
The schedule shows the Warrior girls competing again Thursday at Sutherlin. The boys will compete Saturday at the Screamin’ Eagle tournament at Santiam Christian.
