Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MAY 16

• 11:58 p.m. — Police twice an hour apart to reports of loud music at the same residence in the 1300 block of College Street. On the first response, police reported no violations. After it was reported that the loud music had soon started up again, police issued a warning to the residents.

Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 8:08 a.m. (Main Street) and a traffic complaint at 1:12 p.m. (North 12th Street and Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted another agency at 7:42 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 14th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MAY 17

• 1:13 a.m. — Police took an accident report after an officer observed a motor vehicle strike a deer in the 2400 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.

• 5:17 a.m. — Police assisted at the scene of a shooting that had been reported near the intersection of Highway 99W and Lakeside Drive south of Corvallis. The incident led to a search for two suspects. The shooting victim was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. See the latest story

Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 9:37 p.m. (Starker Place). PPD reported eight traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MAY 18

• 9:25 p.m. — Police conducted a death investigation in the 500 block of North Eighth Street. The responding officer reported that there was no evidence of a crime and it was determined that the male resident had died of natural causes.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 6:54 p.m. (North Eighth Street). PPD reported 11 traffic stops.

MONDAY, MAY 19

• 5:34 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a gas station/convenience store in the 1800 block of Main Street. The estimated loss to the business was reported at $67.

Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 12:30 p.m. (Marlon Street) and property taken into custody for safekeeping at 5:33 p.m. (Neabeack Hill Drive). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 2:29 a.m. (Southwest 53rd Street, Corvallis) and 7:50 p.m. (Southwest West Hills Road and Southwest Reservoir Avenue). PPD reported no traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MAY 20

• 9:51 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance involving four people standing around parked vehicles in the 2600 block of Main Street. The vehicles were gone upon arrival and police reported that they could have been at the location to look at items that had been left by the curb with a free sign.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog at large at 9:27 a.m. (South 23rd Street), repossessed vehicle at 11:24 a.m. (South 18th Street), city ordinance violation at 4:11 p.m. (Main Street) and a city ordinance violation at 4:27 p.m. (Marlon Street). In addition, police assisted another agency at 10:42 p.m. (Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 21

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 6:53 a.m., dog bite at 9:56 a.m. (Marys River Park and Natural Area), civil dispute at 10:28 a.m. (Cedar Street), minor in possession at 2:37 p.m. (Philomath High School), report of theft at 4:28 p.m. (Main Street), “other” criminal activity at 4:28 p.m. (Main Street) and citizen contact at 5:01 p.m. (College Street). In addition, police assisted another agency at 12:41 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported five traffic stops.
