Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MARCH 6

• 2:24 p.m. — The staff at an apartment complex on Main Street found an 18-month-old child outside without an adult. The child was taken to the office and police called. The parent was located and the child returned home.

• 3:23 p.m. — Police responded to a reported violation of a court order release agreement on North 11th Street. The incident was assigned a case number and police reported that they were unable to contact the suspect.

• 6:29 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an off-leash dog biting another dog, which caused a minor injury, in the 300 block of South 11th Street.

• 6:43 p.m. — Police responded to the 1700 block of Maple Street for a report of a fraudulent charge on a woman’s credit card. Police reported that an investigation was ongoing.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 2:23 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MARCH 7

• 9:27 a.m. — Police conducted a death investigation at a South 33rd Place residence involving a 78-year-old woman who was found by a neighbor after not responding to text messages.

• 5:42 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the Philomath Community Library parking lot involving an argument between a man and a woman. Police reported that no crime had occurred.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 12:57 p.m. (Applegate Street), bar check at 9:04 p.m. (Main Street) and a noncriminal issue at 10:06 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 8:34 a.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway) and 9:53 a.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MARCH 8

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: PPD reported one traffic stop.

MONDAY, MARCH 9

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a parked vehicle blocking a lane at 2:11 a.m. (Newton Street and South 26th Street) and a bike traffic issue at 9:35 p.m. (South 19th Street and Applegate Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MARCH 10

• 2:23 p.m. — Police responded to a motor-vehicle crash into a house garage in the 400 block of South 30th Street. Philomath Fire and Rescue reported minor injuries.

• 4:32 p.m. — Police reported that it had taken in a machete that had been found.

Other calls: Police responses included an abandoned vehicle at 1:24 p.m. (South Seventh Street), dog barking at 3:15 p.m. (Pioneer Street) and an animal complaint at 3:16 p.m. (North 13th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: PPD reported six traffic stops.

THURSDAY, MARCH 12

• 10:46 a.m. — Police responded to a report from a citizen in the 700 block of Main Street who had seen a male throw a bicycle at a dog. Police were not able to locate the suspect and planned to contact the property owner.

• 2:52 p.m. — Police responded to a report of reckless driving at Marys River Park and Natural Area. The operators were contacted and issued a warning.

• 7:57 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a crash on Highway 20/34 involving a vehicle that had blown a tire and gone into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a traffic hazard at 4:06 p.m. (Main Street and North 18th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 8:39 a.m. (North 13th Street), 4:26 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and 9:39 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
