Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, DEC. 26

• 5:09 a.m. — A Philomath Police patrol vehicle was involved in a crash at Main Street and North Seventh Street. No injuries were reported. See separate story.

• 8:22 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a gas station customer who became upset while trying to pump fuel and threatened the attendant. Police took the license plate number, which connected to a registered owner out of Waldport. No further information provided.

Other calls: PPD reported 11 traffic stops.

SATURDAY, DEC. 27

• 5:03 p.m. — Police conducted a death investigation in the 500 block of South 19th Street involving a man who was found deceased. As of Jan. 5, the case remained under investigation as law enforcement awaits results of an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office, Police Chief Dave Gurski said.

Other calls: Police responses included a domestic disturbance at 11:06 a.m. (College Street) and citizen assistance with an officer complaint at 3:50 p.m. (address not reported). PPD reported 17 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, DEC. 28

• 12:14 a.m. — Police arrested a 32-year-old Salem man on a warrant out of Benton County Circuit Court for failure to appear on a criminal citation.

• Time NA — Police reported the arrest of a 46-year-old Philomath woman on felony strangulation/domestic and fourth-degree assault charges during a traffic stop stemming from a Dec. 14 incident in the 700 block of Main Street. As of Jan. 12, the investigation was continuing and charges were pending in the district attorney’s office.

Other calls: PPD reported six traffic stops.

MONDAY, DEC. 29

• 2:51 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a theft in the 100 block of North 15th Street. No other information was reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise complaint at 4:53 a.m. (North 19th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 6:34 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

TUESDAY, DEC. 30

• 1:01 p.m. — Police arrested a 31-year-old Blodgett man on a warrant for failure to appear in court after he turned himself in at the Philomath Police Station.

Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 8:26 p.m. (North 15th Street) and a mental health situation at 9:14 p.m. (North 15th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 31

• 10:44 a.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 1700 block of Main Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

• 12:43 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft at a business in the 1600 block of Main Street involving a man who can be seen on security video taking items.

• 3:09 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a man who had allegedly violated a no-contact release agreement by coming onto a South 15th Street property.

• 8:25 p.m. — Police arrested a 32-year-old Seal Rock woman on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .15 through .19) after she had crashed into a ditch on Chapel Drive near South 16th Street. The woman was released with a citation in lieu of custody.

• 10:11 p.m. — Police responded to a report of missing children after they had been gone for an hour on a scavenger hunt. The children contacted their parents and were found by the father.

Other calls: Police responses included a domestic disturbance at 10:21 a.m. (Marlon Street), report of suicidal woman at 1:55 p.m., 911 hangup call at 2:19 p.m. (McCall Way), report of a suicidal woman at 3:24 p.m., and a non-911 call at 9:26 p.m. (South 16th Street and Chapel Drive). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 7:19 a.m. (Highway 20). PPD reported four traffic stops.

THURSDAY, JAN. 1

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a domestic disturbance at 1:58 p.m. (North 11th Street). PPD reported 27 traffic stops.

Clarification, January 12, 2026 4:29 pm: The Police Log was updated at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 12 to reflect that charges had not yet been filed by the district attorney's office in a felony case involving a 46-year-old Philomath woman.
