Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MARCH 27

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 7:15 a.m. (Main Street), mental health issue at 8:27 a.m. (North 15th Street), dogs at large at 4:56 p.m. (North Ninth Street), lost dog at 6:05 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and a noise disturbance at 11:17 p.m. (Cedar Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

SATURDAY, MARCH 28

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a 911 call hangup at midnight (South 15th Street), found wallet at 11:20 a.m. (Applegate Street) and a noise disturbance at 12:28 p.m. (South 17th Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MARCH 29

• 9:24 p.m. — Police arrested a 38-year-old Albany man in the 100 block of North Seventh Street on a cite-and-release warrant out of Benton County. However, the man was taken into custody on misdemeanor charges of third-degree theft/shoplifting and providing false information to a police officer. 

Other calls: Police responses included a traffic hazard at 12:22 a.m. (North 19th Street), juvenile complaint at 3:46 p.m. (College Street and North 16th Street) and bike traffic at 8:41 p.m. (North 19th Street and Industrial Way). PPD reported 17 traffic stops.

MONDAY, MARCH 30

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a city ordinance violation at 2:35 p.m. (Cedar Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:51 p.m. (Highway 34). PPD reported two traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MARCH 31

• 9:08 p.m. — Police arrested a 43-year-old Philomath man on outstanding warrants. He was cited and released.

Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious circumstance at 12:27 p.m. (Main Street), private property tow at 5:06 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and a juvenile complaint at 5:19 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 23rd Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:53 p.m. (Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported three traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1

• 12:10 p.m. — Police responded to a request by Philomath Public Works to assist with a situation at Philomath City Park after staff were unable to access a restroom for cleaning. The door had been locked and lights were on inside for over three hours. Two female students from Philomath High School were found inside. Police also reported that the baby-changing table had been damaged with the suspicion that the students were sitting on it while inside the restroom. The changing station will likely need to be replaced.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 3:20 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a landlord-tenant issue at 6:11 p.m. (South 23rd Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, APRIL 2

• 12:10 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud from a resident on North 14th Street involving a threat of federal prison time from an individual who requested payment through the purchase of gift cards at Dollar General. The citizen did not lose any money and was instructed to ignore calls from that number in the future.

• 4:38 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud from a resident on Applegate Street involving a personal check that had been sent via mail to pay a credit card bill. The check was not received by the credit card company and had been altered to pay another person.

• 4:51 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business in the 1700 block of Main Street. A male suspect entered the store, put a cellphone charging cable valued at $16.99 in his pocket and left without paying.

Other calls: Police responses included a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at 4:44 p.m. (North 11th Street) and telephone harassment at 8:47 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
