Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, NOV. 28

• 3:10 p.m. — Police responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a postal truck at North Ninth Street and Pioneer Street. No injuries were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a caller upset about social media posts (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:41 p.m. (Southwest West Hills Road, Corvallis). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, NOV. 29

• 8:18 a.m. — Police responded with other law-enforcement agencies to an Oregon State University employee who received an email from an unknown source making threats to several different locations throughout the area, including a bomb threat to Philomath Middle School. The individual who allegedly sent the email was contacted and the incident remains under investigation. Philomath Police completed a sweep of the middle school and declared the building safe. Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 3:32 a.m. (McCall Way) and citizen assistance at 11:29 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 6:19 p.m. (Southeast Third Street and Southeast Chapman Place, Corvallis). PPD reported eight traffic stops.

SUNDAY, NOV. 30

• 2:28 a.m. — Police arrested a 23-year-old Albany man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (blood alcohol content of .18%) following a crash into a parked car in the 1400 block of Applegate Street.

• 11:33 a.m. — Police transported a dog that had been found in the 3000 block of Main Street to Heartland Humane Society’s shelter in Corvallis. The dog was described as a black-and-grey shepherd mix.

Other calls: Police responses included helping a concerned citizen about a neighbor at 10:18 a.m. (Marlon Place), suspicious person caught on a security camera at 7:10 p.m. (Willowbrook Drive) and a dog at large at 8:20 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

MONDAY, DEC. 1

• 1:43 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a semitruck and compact car that were both heading west in the 1100 block of Main Street. According to the report, the truck driver made a lane change and did not see the small car, clipping the rear passenger door with the front wheel of his truck. No injuries were reported.

• 3:32 p.m. — Police took a report from a Corvallis resident in the police station’s lobby involving a court order violation. While police investigated the order, the man was advised by his attorney to leave the police department with the violation occurring at his residence in Corvallis.

Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 12:51 a.m. (Willowbrook Drive) and a traffic hazard at 12:56 a.m. (South 19th Street and Ash Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 2:23 a.m. (Highway 20/34). PPD reported five traffic stops.

TUESDAY, DEC. 2

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 11:28 a.m. (South 17th Street and Applegate Street) and a lost backpack with purse and wallet inside at 2:56 p.m. (South 24th Street and Green Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 7:50 p.m. (site not reported). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 3

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 11:32 a.m. (Philomath Community Services), welfare check at 3:20 p.m. (South Ninth Street and Applegate Street) and a request for an individual to be trespassed from a parking lot at 4:15 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:55 p.m. (Southwest Reservoir Avenue, Corvallis). PPD reported five traffic stops.

THURSDAY, DEC. 4

• 11:17 a.m. — Police responded to a situation involving an animal in the 300 block of North 19th Street. A deer in distress was euthanized and a passerby claimed it.

• 3:59 p.m. — Police took a report from an individual in the 600 block of North 11th Street involving a wallet that was taken from a vehicle.

• Time NA — Police arrested a 59-year-old Salem man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended stemming from a Nov. 29 incident in the 1700 block of Main Street.

Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 6:09 a.m. (Main Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
