Republic Services will provide curbside pickup of loose leaves on paved streets in Philomath every other week on five dates from Oct. 23 until Dec. 18, the city announced.
Residents may place leaves at the curb starting the weekend before the Thursday pickup date. Leaf piles should be positioned one foot from the curb to allow stormwater drainage.
City officials emphasized that only loose leaves will be collected. Trash, limbs, branches, grass and other debris must not be included in leaf piles. Placing leaves in streets outside the designated collection week is considered littering and is prohibited, the city said.
Pick-up dates are Oct. 23, Nov. 6, Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18.
Residents have additional disposal options. Loose leaves may be dropped off free of charge at the Public Works compound (1515 Willow St.), which is reserved for Philomath residents only and does not accept sticks, branches, bags or trash. Residents may also use their Republic Services yard debris carts for weekly disposal.
The Public Works compound leaf drop-off is not available for commercial use.
