SATURDAY, SEPT. 20
• 3:49 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 about 2 miles east of Corbett that took the life of Jeffrey Allen Flood, 40, of Boring. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 26-year-old Beaverton woman was driving a BMW X3 west in the eastbound lanes and struck head-on a Tesla Model Y driven by Flood. The Tesla caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. Flood was declared deceased at the scene. The BMW’s driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
• 5:03 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 in Linn County in the vicinity of the Halsey-Sweet Home Highway interchange that injured two people. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a gray Kia Rio was heading north on I-5 when it was rear-ended by a suspect vehicle. The Kia’s driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times. Both occupants were transported to an area hospital. The suspect, who was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, fled the scene. Broken vehicle parts at the scene indicate that the suspect was likely driving a dark blue 2023 to 2025 Toyota Corolla SE with damage to the driver’s side bumper and side wheel well.
