SUNDAY, FEB. 8

• 1:29 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 58 about 3 miles east of Oakridge that took the lives of Anais Spring Rowell, 25, of Oakridge, and Malia Kana Malo, 24, of Oakridge. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Rowell was driving an eastbound Toyota Tacoma when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree head-on. Rowell and Malo were declared deceased at the scene. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

MONDAY, FEB. 9

• 4:01 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Madras that took the life of Aaron Lee Bottorff, 51, of La Grande. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Bottorff was driving a northbound Subaru Forester when it crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a southbound Jeep Cherokee driven by a 34-year-old Bend man head-on. Bottorff was declared deceased at the scene. The Jeep’s driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

• 6:54 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 about 4 miles west of Rainier that took the life of Alissa Jenay Jarvis, 23, of Astoria. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 34-year-old Longview, Washington, man crossed into the westbound lane and struck Jarvis’ westbound Subaru Crosstrek head-on. Jarvis was declared deceased at the scene. The Chevrolet’s driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Impairment and lane safety were considered primary contributors to the crash.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 11

• 7:10 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 205 about 3 miles west of Oregon City that took the life of Douglas Richard York, 54, of Crooked River Ranch. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office had been in pursuit of York, who was driving a southbound Lexus near West Linn, for a speeding violation. While continuing southbound, the Lexus rear-ended a gray Volkswagen Golf driven by a 34-year-old Oregon City man. The Lexus then lost control, rolled over, and York was ejected from the vehicle. York was subsequently struck by a gray Toyota Corolla driven by a 31-year-old Sherwood woman. York was pronounced deceased at the scene. York was later identified as the subject of a statewide felony warrant and statewide “be on the lookout” alert from earlier in the day. Questions related to the pursuit should be directed to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. OSP is the investigating agency for the fatal crash.
