Craig Richard McKinnon was born in April of 1961 to Robert and Jane McKinnon in Taipei, Taiwan. He passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024.

Craig’s family relocated to Corvallis where he spent his childhood and adult life. He grew up in North Corvallis, attending Crescent Valley High School. He was always called “the little brother” of the family, although he grew to be the tallest. Craig met many lifelong friends through his beloved career as a rural mail carrier for the Philomath Post Office. He loved his work and friendships with his postal colleagues and customers; Craig was always a favorite.
Craig is loved by all for his willingness to help, no matter what the situation, strangers and friends alike. His selfless and endearing nature, his loyalty and his work ethic are hallmarks of his life. Longtime friends, as well as new acquaintances, were drawn to him by his kindness. Craig welcomed his children’s friends into the family, fed and clothed houseless strangers, and gave kindness and assistance to his mail route customers. Anyone who knows Craig knew the health challenges he faced throughout his life, but he always remained true to himself and those around him, not allowing those difficulties to diminish him.
Craig was dedicated to his many roles as a brother, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, husband and mailman. Those roles live on through his two sisters, five children (Dylan, Ian, Aaron, Rory, Brynne), six grandchildren (Colton, Adrianna, Cooper, Mateo, Javier, Romilly), and friends too numerous to count.
To remember Craig is to remember his infectious smile, distinctive laugh, love for his dogs, easy going demeanor, driving cars and dirt bikes fast, a deep love for two-strap sandals, classic rock, a nice warm coat and a solid “thumbs up”.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and Craig’s obituary will be updated with service information when available.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home.
